The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to sign free agent wide receiver Kyle Rudolph to a one-year deal after tight end Rob Gronkowski confirmed his intention not to return to the NFL, NFL Network reported Wednesday. ( 123over )
Rudolph, 32, entered the league as a second-round draft pick in the 2011 class, played his entire first decade with the Minnesota Vikings and moved to the New York Giants last season before being released by the Giants and is now set to sign him to a one-year deal following Gronkowski’s retirement.
The 32-year-old wide receiver has played in 156 games (starting 145), caught 479 passes for 4,745 yards and 60 touchdowns, which will add more experience to the Pirates’ wide receiver roster and give Rudolph a chance to revive his career.
Rudolph, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound wide receiver, will have a chance to link up with Tom Brady after the 45-year-old quarterback benefited greatly from playing with Gronkowski, who was Rudolph’s size, during 11 seasons with the New England Patriots and Buccaneers. He’ll join Cameron Brate, Cody McElroy and fourth-round rookie draft pick Kade Otton.
