Cordero joined Malaga’s youth system in 2021 and signed his first professional contract the following year, before making his debut for the team’s B or reserve team in September 2023 in a game against Atletico Madrid’s reserve team in the third division.

This season, Cordero has become a regular in Malaga’s first team in Spain’s Segunda Division, making 33 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists.

The Athletic reported that Barcelona and Real Madrid were both monitoring the development of the 18-year-old winger, but it was Newcastle from England who finally reached a pre-agreement to sign him.
