Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Devontae Adams, 30, still sees Aidan O’Connell as the Pirates’ starting quarterback because he’s more familiar with the team than newcomer Gardner Minshew, as the two battle it out for a spot in training camp, NFL Network reports.

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Minshew signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Raiders this offseason, with head coach Antonio Pierce set to put him in competition with O’Connell for the starting quarterback position in training camp later this month.  ( zbet911 )

For Adams, he said he wasn’t rooting for anyone in particular, but he did reiterate that O’Connell holds the title and will do everything he can to keep it.

‘I think right now, if I had to say it, I think Aidan has a job to do because obviously he’s been here before and that’s what it is. He ran with one second left until Gardner came in and took it from him. I think it’s Aidan’s job right now. He’s doing what he’s got to do to hold it in.’ ( zbet911s  )

‘We still have to keep working and doing what we have to do to grow and get better. We’re definitely going to be better than we were. Him and me, our connection, him personally, even me. At this point in the year, this is not where you’re going to be at your best.’

‘So throughout the camp, when we start putting the pads on and really getting into it, I think that’s when we’re going to decide who this guy is going to be, and I’m going to continue to work on that and build that friendship.’
