Mbappe had a chance to equalise against Liverpool from the spot but his effort was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher before the Reds secured a 2-0 victory through Cody Gakpo, with Mohamed Salah also missing a penalty. 

“Mbappe had the support of everyone even after missing the penalty, he will definitely change the situation soon,” Ancelotti said of the France international.

“Mbappe is a special player. We have to be patient. He is doing well and adapting well. We are with him.” 

As Jude Bellingham added: “Mbappe’s penalty? It happened. Missing a penalty is not the reason we lost. We didn’t do well enough. They (Liverpool) were better.” ( wintime999 )
