The Baltimore Ravens have selected Arizona tight end Tyler Loup in the sixth round of the 2025 draft, the first such selection in the franchise’s 30-year history, amid the uncertainty surrounding Justin Tucker’s future amid sexual assault allegations, ESPN reports. baconclub66

Asked if the selection of Loop would affect Tucker’s roster spot, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said, “I don’t really think about that right now. I just think (Loop) is a really talented player and it makes sense for us to do that for a number of reasons.”

‘We told you guys multiple times in the spring that we were going to look at the kicker position, so for us, it’s like every other position this year. We’ve evaluated all these players. We feel like he’s draftable. We feel like he’s the best kicker and it makes sense for us to take him.’

However, DeCosta has not made it clear whether Loup will compete with Tucker for the punter position or if Baltimore will push him to become the new punter in the 2025 season. 

“I think they’re both on the roster right now,” DeCosta said. “It’s a situation for us where we’re trying to find the best football player, so we’re excited to see what he can do. We’ll be here next week (and we’ll) have a chance to see his legs, and that’s going to help us consider our decisions going forward.” ( baconclub66 )
