Chicago Bears second-year quarterback Caleb Williams says the key now is to make his relationship with new head coach Ben Johnson work smoothly since working together in Phase 1 of this offseason, NFL Network reports. baconclub66

“Our growth together is important, starting now. It’s important for him to push me. I know that and he knows that,” Williams said of working with his new head coach.

Williams experienced an up-and-down rookie season, struggling at times with his rhythm and finding his way out of the wide receiver, but he also showed great potential with his arm strength and play outside the pocket.

Entering his sophomore season, the 23-year-old quarterback is looking to learn from the 2024 downturn. “I’m really excited,” Williams said of his sophomore season.

‘To be in this position, to have the first year that I did, with the ups and downs, and then to be able to come in here with the same confidence that I had last year or maybe more, and to be here with the group that we have, I can’t wait to work with them.’

Williams is working on the rhythm and sequence of his new offensive line in the first stages of his career this week. After spending most of his college and rookie seasons as a shotgun, he’ll be more familiar with the center formation that Johnson has gravitated towards. 

The 23-year-old quarterback knows that if he can make rapid progress as a player, the entire team can grow, and he stressed that progress will come with Johnson’s coaching. 

“If you have that position right, it helps a lot,” Williams said of the quarterback-driven NFL league. “It’s fun to build that connection (Johnson) has with me and for us to grow together for years to come. I can’t wait to help him learn more about the ball because he’s so smart and sharp.”  ( baconclub66 )
