Dia returned to Senegal early last week but was diagnosed with malaria and has been confined to the training camp in Dakar, missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Burkina Faso and Burundi.

However, Dia, who is playing for Lazio on loan from Salernitana, was diagnosed with symptoms suggestive of malaria, but subsequent tests did not reveal any abnormalities, leading the Senegalese Football Federation to release the 28-year-old striker back to Rome, Italy.

“I think Dia will be ready to play against Bologna,” Baroni told radio station Anzio Sport.

“We will be back in training tomorrow (Tuesday). Of course we want to see his physical condition and consult with the medical team. The player has undergone a medical and he is fine.”

“We believe we can get him into the team immediately. Dia is a player I like for his agility and tactical play, so if he is fit he will play.” ( vox888 )
