General manager Ryan Pace and new Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy chose two years in addition to drafting Anthony Miller in the second round and Javon Wims in the seventh round to add offensive firepower to star quarterback Mitchell Trubisky for the 2018 season. berlin1688
The Bears traded up an additional second-round pick from the New England Patriots, trading a fourth-round pick this year and a second-round pick next year to move up the rankings for Memphis wide receiver Miller, before finishing off this year’s draft with Georgia wide receiver Wims in the first joint draft between Pace and Nagy.
“Matt has looked at every wide receiver in this draft, so he has a good feeling about how this kid fits here. Hearing that from the head coach is invaluable to me,” Pace said.
Nagy was pleased with the Bears’ draft, especially with the addition of weapons for Trubisky, after signing free agents Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons in the offseason and drafting wide receivers Miller and Wims.
‘We talked about adding players to the attacking team and that’s what we did. Now it’s up to us as coaches to make it happen and it’s the players who are going to make it happen on the pitch,’ Nagy said.
That means Nagy now has six wide receiver options: Robinson, Gabriel, Miller, Wims, and 2015 first-round draft picks Josh Bellamy and Kevin White. ( berlin1688 )
