ESPN’s Rob Demovsky says the Packers are clearly concerned about starting linebacker Ryan’s right knee injury that could rule him out for the rest of the 2018 season.
Ryan suffered a right knee injury during his fourth training camp practice on Monday afternoon local time, which could rule him out for the rest of the season after being slated to be the starter next season.
The 26-year-old inside linebacker started 12 games for the Packers last year, where he was a run-stopper alongside Blake Martinez, recording 213 tackles in his first three NFL seasons.
“I don’t know the extent of it yet,” Martinez said of his teammate’s injury. “Of course, everyone will know when they know. I just pray for him and hope for the best for him. I know he’ll come back stronger.”
The Packers also have options in second-year linebacker Ahmad Thomas, undrafted free agent Greer Martini and rookie Oren Burks, but they have just four games of combined NFL experience. ( berlin1688 )
