The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with Sam Darnold on a three-year, $100.5 million deal with $55 million guaranteed after the 27-year-old quarterback enjoyed a career-best season, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. berlin1688
The former No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 draft failed to establish himself as a franchise quarterback for the New York Jets before being traded to the Carolina Panthers in 2021. He spent two years with the Panthers, then moved to the San Francisco 49ers as a backup until the Minnesota Vikings signed him to a one-year deal in the 2024 offseason.
Darnold completed a career-best 66.2 percent of his passes for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as the Vikings posted a 14-3 regular season, but Minnesota declined to franchise tag him and instead let the 27-year-old quarterback test the free-agent market, eventually landing with the Seahawks, who traded Geno Smith, 34, for a third-round draft pick from the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 27-year-old quarterback will lead the Seahawks under new offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak, who are in transition after the release of veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett and the trade of wide receiver DK Metcalf, 27, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. ( berlin1688 )
