Washington Redskins offensive lineman Orlando Franklin has decided to retire from the NFL just two days after he was cut from the team, citing a desire to be a full-time father to his children. betflikth99

The 30-year-old Franklin played in 90 regular-season games and started 89 with the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and Redskins before announcing his NFL retirement on Instagram on Saturday, just two days after being cut by the Redskins.

The 30-year-old Kingston, Jamaica-born offensive lineman was drafted by the Broncos in the second round, 46th overall, in 2011. He played right tackle for Denver, playing in all 16 games in his rookie and sophomore seasons. During his third season, he played in 15 regular-season games and three playoff games before losing to the Seattle Seahawks 8-43 in the 2014 Super Bowl.

Franklin has decided to retire from the NFL after just seven years because he wants to spend more time with his family, having previously been based in Washington, D.C., while his wife and son live in Denver.  ( betflikth99 )
