Garrett Wilson, 24, has said he wants to stay with the New York Jets for the rest of his career while waiting for a new contract from Gang Green, NFL Network reports. bgame666

“I hope I stay with the Jets for the rest of my career,” Wilson said. “And I hope we can make it work out and hopefully all of our good days will come.” 

‘When the time comes and we have discussions, I will try my best to make sure no one will say no.’ 

The former 10th overall pick in the 2022 draft still has two years left on his rookie contract after the Jets picked up the fifth-year option on his contract for the 2026 season, worth $16.8 million. If a new deal is struck, it will be interesting to see if Wilson will surpass Justin Jefferson’s $35 million per year with the Minnesota Vikings and Ja’Mar Chase’s $40.25 million with the Cincinnati Bengals on average. 

Wilson has passed the 1,000-yard mark in his first three career seasons, despite the Jets having some uncertainty at quarterback. Now, Gang Green has brought in Justin Fields to be the new quarterback, which should provide some stability.

New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has confirmed that his plan for Wilson will remain the same for the 2025 season, saying: ‘Give him the ball as much as you can.’ 

Before Wilson added, “I want to be a part of something special. I don’t think a lot of people can build something special. In terms of a group, this is about the group, and I want to go in and get to know my teammates. I want to get to know the coaches as well. This is a new job, learn the material that they’ve put out there, and don’t be a laggard when this becomes mandatory (at June minicamp), right?”
