The 49ers led 23-10 at the half but couldn’t add to their tally in the second half before the Cardinals scored 14 points to secure the win, moving Shanahan’s team to 2-3.

‘Very disappointed,’ Shanahan said of his team’s failure to capitalize on the advantage they had hoped for. ‘There’s no way we can lose that. We always come back to losing possession. In my opinion, there are other things you can do to overcome that. There was a conversation last night that we thought the key to the game was losing possession.’

‘And that’s what happened in the first half, it gave us a huge advantage and then we turned it around in the second half and when you do that you get the win.’

The loss to the Cardinals was similar to the previous loss to the LA Rams, with lost possession, defensive mistakes, mishandling and a chance to close out the game.

“I said the same thing last week, it’s not good,” Shanahan said of his team’s red zone struggles. “We were in the middle of the pack before the game started today, and we were a lot worse today.” ( bgames666 )
