Safety Justin Simmons, 31, is looking to make the most of his free agency situation and is hoping to sign with a team before training camp in July, NFL Network reports. bgames666

Simmons remains a free agent after parting ways with the Atlanta Falcons at the end of the 2024 season. He previously spent eight seasons with the Denver Broncos, after entering the league as a third-round draft pick in the 2016 draft. He waited until August to sign last year, but the 31-year-old safety is hoping to get the deal done sooner this year. 

“That’s always been the goal,” Simmons said. “I think, yeah, there are pros and cons to training. The cons are going through it, the physical wear and tear, especially as you get older. But the pros are building good relationships, especially when you’re not with the team and not playing with those guys as much.”

‘I think playing a little bit earlier would help me a lot, but it’s not easy either. We’ll see. I want to play in the best possible conditions and I want to play in a team that can win.’

Simmons continued to excel with the Falcons, recording 62 tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions. The 31-year-old safety’s career combined total of 32 interceptions, but he became surplus to requirements in Atlanta after the firing of defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake.

‘At the end of the day, I think positively about us (coach Raheem Morris) and (general manager) Terry (Fontenot) and (owner) Arthur (Blanc), and I think this organization is at the top level.’

‘I think they’ll be great. It’s just a one-year thing, they like younger players too. Sometimes things don’t go to plan and you go your separate ways. I don’t know if that door is closed, but we’ll have to wait and see.’ ( bgames666 )
