    The England international was unhappy at Old Trafford and eventually joined Aston Villa on loan in the January transfer window, where he has since returned to action, with the Villans having the option to buy him outright for £40million.

    However, the issue is Rashford’s high wages, while the player himself could look at other options, particularly if Villa fail to qualify for the Champions League, with Wright seeing the Magpies as an attractive option.

    “This could be the signing Newcastle should make,” Wright told the Rangers FC podcast when it was suggested Rashford could make a surprise move to St James’ Park.

    “It would be amazing, the team would be dangerous – Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah, that would be great. I like that, Rashford at Newcastle, it would be very dangerous.”
