Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is hopeful Rachie Rice will make a healthy recovery after the 24-year-old wide receiver was placed on injured reserve and will miss at least four games, NFL Network reports. ( thaisiambet )

Rice injured his knee while attempting to make a tackle after being intercepted in Week 4’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, with initial fears the 24-year-old wide receiver could be sidelined for the rest of the season with an ACL tear, but the Chiefs are waiting for the swelling in his knee to go down before making a formal re-evaluation. 

“I think we’ll have to wait and see,” Reid said of Rice. “For his own sake, we hope everything works out, but we’ll see what happens. I’ll leave it to the doctors to see. I’m definitely not a doctor.”

“I’m not really worried about myself, I’m worried about his injury and I hope it’s not as bad as it looks because I hit him,” Patriots quarterback Patrick Mahomes said of his teammate. 

Even though Rice played just four snaps Sunday before suffering the injury, the 24-year-old wide receiver led the Chiefs in targets (29), catches (24) and total yards (288) with two touchdowns, tied with first-round draft rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Rice will miss at least four games against the New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
