Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steiken is pleased with Anthony Richardson’s performance despite the fourth overall pick in the draft. In the first warm-up game of the  pre-season, losing to the Buffalo Bills 19-23, according to the NFL Network report. ( marinabays  )

Richardson completed 7 of 12 passes for 67 yards and one interception. He also ran the ball two more times for 7 yards before being replaced by veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew, who completed six passes for 72 yards, leading to a score. of 25-year-old running back Jake Funk before the end of the first half, but Steiken was still pleased with the rookie quarterback’s performance. 

‘I thought he had good balance,’ Steiken said of Richardson. ‘There were some early interceptions. That’s my fault. Must be better there Think he’s efficient, calm, lots of good stuff there.’

Minshew showed an ability to avoid pressure and deliver timely passes. So there will be questions over the remainder of pre-season as to whether Steiken gives Richardson more game time to continue his development or relies on the talent of an experienced player like Minshew.

‘It’s fun to play football again,’ Richardson said. ‘The first drive wasn’t great. Must limit turnover And don’t try to be Superman. Overall the first experience was quite good.’
