The speculation comes as media outlets have suggested Brady could make a grand comeback if he leads the Patriots to their sixth Super Bowl title on Sunday, before the veteran quarterback confirmed he has no plans to retire.
‘Why does everyone want me to retire?’ Brady tells reporters ‘I don’t get it’
‘I’m having fun, I’m not thinking about retirement, I’m thinking about the Super Bowl,’ Patriots quarterback insists
Previously, in 1998, Steve DeBerg started a game for the Atlanta Falcons at the age of 44 and was named to the Super Bowl roster that same year at the age of 45, while Warren Moon and Vinnie Testaverd also started at quarterback at the age of 44. George Blanda played quarterback until the age of 48, but made his last start at the age of 41.
‘Give him full credit,’ Brady says of DeBerg ‘I always say I’m going to play until I’m in my mid-40s.’
‘We’ll see. Football is a physical sport. Every game could be your last. That’s the reality of the sport.’
“I like to plan for those things. I try to work hard on what I need to do to get my body ready week in, week out, year in, year out, especially the last 10, 12 years. As long as I feel like I’m committed to doing those things, I feel like my body can help me do that,” Brady said.
