Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is avoiding comparisons to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson after the No. 2 overall pick led the team to its first 4-1 start since 2008, NFL Network reports. cosmo365

Daniels threw for 1,135 yards and rushed for 300 yards, making him the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 1,000 yards and rush for more than 250 yards in his first five career games. 

Considering Daniels’ dual-threat ability before the rookie Commanders face Jackson’s Ravens in Week 6 on Sunday, Quinn avoided drawing comparisons.

“We don’t talk about that a lot,” Quinn said when asked about the comparisons between the two quarterbacks. “I think everybody knows how remarkable and amazing Lamar is, so I understand people saying he’s a guy with athletic ability and can play well, but I want Jayden to be the best version of himself and do his best.”

‘They’re going to play on a different offensive team than us, but for comparison, I don’t allow myself to go that route. I just want to be in everything he can do and how we’re going to let him play on the offensive team with our players.’

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh also agreed with Quinn, saying there was no need to compare the quarterbacks and that simply praising each one’s abilities was enough.

“I see really good quarterbacks every week. You look at the quarterback. That’s where the offense starts,” Harbaugh said. “Joe Burrow is a top quarterback in the league. He’s one of the best, but he’s one of the best in his own right, and we saw that on Sunday, the challenge that his game presents.”

‘Jayden Daniels, he’s come into the game? And now he’s been one of the best players in the league for five games as a rookie. He plays (differently) than Joe Burrow.’

‘Every quarterback plays his own style. There are always similarities and differences, but we have to see how he fits into their offense and we have to prepare for their offense to be run by him. And that’s a big challenge. I mean, we’ve been very busy working on that. So that’s how we look at it as a defense.’ ( cosmo365 )
