The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent running back Dalvin Cook, 29, with the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver set to wear No. 20 through the 2024 season, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.

Cook spent the first six years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings after entering the league as a second-round draft pick in the 2017 class and made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 2019-2022 before moving on to the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens in the 2023 season and becoming a free agent this offseason before eventually ending up with the Cowboys. 

The Cowboys have three running backs on the 53-man roster in Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn, but they have yet to announce the 16-man practice squad, which Cook is expected to be on as he practices for the start of the season. 

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy faced Cook several times while he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and in Dallas last season while Cook was with the Jets, so he knows the 29-year-old’s skills well and could be a valuable asset to the Cowboys’ offense.  ( wilson88 )
