Ezekiel Elliott will not play in Sunday’s trip to the Atlanta Falcons after the Dallas Cowboys cut the 29-year-old running back for disciplinary reasons, ESPN reports.

Elliott did not board the charter flight to Atlanta, and the media has not been able to reach the 29-year-old running back’s representatives for comment.

The Cowboys brought Elliott back on a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, with $2.15 million guaranteed and a $600,000 signing bonus last offseason, where he rushed 48 times for 149 yards and two touchdowns and caught seven passes for 40 yards in the first seven games of the season. 

In last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Elliott had the 70th rushing touchdown of his career, trailing only Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith. 

This is the first time in Elliott’s career that he has been cut from the team for disciplinary reasons, having been suspended for the final game of the regular season in 2016 and 2018 after the Cowboys secured a playoff berth. 

For Sunday’s trip to Atlanta, Rico Dowdle will play a primary role as a ground ball carrier, with former Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook as his backup. ( Onelove168  )
