Pittsburgh reshuffled its quarterback room after the departures of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this offseason. They brought back Mason Rudolph to a two-year, $8 million deal and brought back Skylar Thompson to a one-year deal before selecting Ohio State quarterback Howard with the 185th overall pick (sixth round) of the 2025 class while waiting to sign Rodgers.
“They want a tough guy,” Howard said. “When I was growing up, I watched the Pittsburgh Steelers and Big Ben (Ben Roethlisberger). Big Ben was that guy. He was Pittsburgh. He was Steel City. A hard worker. And I wanted to be that guy.”
‘I want to bring that sharpness and that energy with me. I think I did a pretty good job at Ohio State and I’m pretty proud of that and I’m going to try to bring that to the Steel City.’
Howard will have a chance to prove himself to the Steelers and Pittsburgh fans this offseason, and the former Ohio State quarterback is hoping to learn from the veteran quarterback Rodgers as well.
‘I don’t know what’s going to happen, it’s over my head, but I want to be in the room and learn from him. Who knows what’s going to happen? I have no idea, and that’s over my head.’ ( cup1688 )
