“We couldn’t do it without the fans. We appreciate it. We love you,” Hurts said as the crowd chanted “MVP.” “You know, I told myself when I got drafted, I wasn’t going to get on the Rockies ladder until I won a championship. And now we’re here.”

Just five days after the Eagles knocked off the two-time champion Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans, Eagles fans gathered for a parade to celebrate the franchise’s second Super Bowl title, following their loss to the Chiefs two years ago.

The Phillies also finished the 2023 season in disappointment and will start the 2024 campaign 2-2, and Hurts spoke about the team’s effort to overcome obstacles on their way to the top, and now they look forward to the opportunity to do so again in 2025.

“I know this year, this team had to fight hard. This team had to fight. This team had to endure. There was a lot of scrutiny. There was a lot of criticism. There was a lot of it,” Hurts said. “But I know in this city there’s one thing we do: We fight. We fight. And when you go through all that, you learn that success isn’t built on acceptance.”

“We had three of our last four at home, and we practiced outside every day and we practiced at the stadium every two days, and I said, ‘Hey, we’ve got to go to the Super Bowl, and to win the Super Bowl, we’re going to go out to Lincoln Financial in front of the best fans in the world and win the game.
