DK Metcalf, 27, has requested a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, who are also considering their options, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.  cup1688

The trade request from Seattle reportedly came less than an hour after the Seahawks announced they had agreed to release 32-year-old wide receiver Tyler Lockett after 10 seasons. 

Metcalf had 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games in the 2024 season, but the Seahawks missed the playoffs despite finishing the regular season 10-7. That was the breakout moment for former 2023 first-round draft pick Jackson Smith-Ngigba, who caught 100 passes for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns last season.

The 27-year-old wide receiver will undoubtedly attract interest from several franchises even if he falls short of 1,000 receiving yards in the 2024 season, but Metcalf’s current contract could be an obstacle, as it is set to cover $31.8 million in salary-cap space in the final year of his contract in 2025, as well as a voided third year ($7.1 million in 2026).

The Seahawks would reportedly save nearly $11 million in salary cap space if a trade were made before June 1 and $18 million if it were made after June 1. ( cup1688 )
