Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has insisted that Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado’s first call-up to the Spain squad was based on his performances and abilities, regardless of the player’s origins, Marca reported on Friday.
Casado impressed for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona before earning his first call-up to the Spain squad, becoming the sixth Barca player to make the list alongside Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Daniel Olmo, Pedro Gonzalez Lopez Pedri and Pau Gubarsi.
‘I confirm that I do not look at the origins of the players, we only focus on good people. Barça and other clubs in Spain are doing a very good job and it is important to give opportunities to talented, young and talented people.’
‘That never fails and we are delighted that these players are here. We work very well at the basic level. Your call-up depends on your quality, your work and your ability. There are footballers who want the best to get the most out of themselves.’
‘Perhaps if he hadn’t played in the first team at Barca we wouldn’t have seen his potential. This is a very clear case. He is a footballer who still has a lot to say and develop,’ De la Fuente said. ( zbet911 )
