Joao Mendes, the 19-year-old winger and son of Barcelona legend Ronaldinho, is continuing his footballing career after signing a two-year deal with Championship side Burnley under Scott Parker, ESPN reported on Thursday.  vox888

Ronaldinho’s son followed in his father’s footsteps after joining Barcelona’s youth system in March 2023, featuring for Barca’s U18s and U19s last season but failed to make an impact and the Blaugrana did not extend the player’s contract, with Joao Mendes moving to England on a two-year deal to join Burnley. ‘I understand the excitement, but I don’t think it’s fair to put pressure on a young boy. He comes here with a sense of development, that’s what we’re seeing.’

“I understand the excitement about the connection with his dad. Hopefully he’ll come in, but there’s a lot of work to be done, different cultures, different ways of doing things, so I’ll have to temper that excitement a little bit,” Parker said.
