Rudi Garcia, 61, told L’Equipe on Thursday about his bad experience working at Napoli and his strained relationship with Naples president Aurelio De Laurentiis. 

Garcia took over as Napoli manager from Luciano Spalletti in the summer of 2023, but the Frenchman only managed 16 games, winning eight, drawing four and losing four, before De Laurentiis sacked him on November 14 of that year.

‘I am still under contract, I have privacy clauses and the rights to my image remain with the club. You see, in Italy they can sack you but you are still bound to the club and we have no financial agreement to terminate the contract, so the contract remains until the summer of 2024,’ Garcia said.

The French coach also feels he has been treated unfairly at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, especially considering how much the situation has deteriorated since his departure.

‘I was fourth in Serie A and at the end of the season the team finished 10th with two other coaches. We were also close to reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.’

‘I’m not saying I did everything right, but the results showed that I was right and the chairman made a mistake.’

‘I like everything about Napoli: the city, the stadium, the fans, the team, everything except the intervention of the president.'( doohee )
