In the first half, in the 11th minute, the away team played well and almost took the lead. Dani Bebian passed the ball through to Inaki Williams, who got away and shot but Jan Oblak saved it.

Atletico Madrid’s game was still a bit dull, but they had a chance from Alexander Sørloth’s header, but the ball went over the bar.

In the second half, in the 66th minute, Atletico Madrid took the lead 1-0 when Marcos Llorente carried the ball up the right wing and passed it into the gap for substitute Julian Alvarez to break free and shoot with his left foot into the net.

In the 73rd minute, the home team almost extended their lead when Angel Correa tapped in a right-footed shot from a tight angle, but Unai Simon managed to close the angle and save it behind.

Bilbao incredibly missed an equaliser when Alex Berenger crossed from the left and Benjat Prados headed the ball off the far post, but Inaki Williams’ follow-up hit the crossbar.

In the 82nd minute, it was another golden opportunity for Bilbao when Nico Williams passed the ball to Inaki Williams who stepped up and shot with his right foot. The ball hit the home team’s defender and hit the crossbar.

Full-time Atletico Madrid edged Athletic Bilbao 1-0 at home, moving them ahead of Barcelona and Real Madrid to take the top spot in La Liga. ( Doomai )
