Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler insists he will continue his duties regardless of how he feels about head coach Brandon Staley following his departure from the Lightning. Starting off with a 2-4 record this season, according to a report from NFL Network on Thursday.  fast168

Ekeler was previously asked if the Lightning still have confidence in head coach Staley, and the 29-year-old running back replied, ‘We don’t have a choice, right?’ before explaining. of the meaning he was trying to communicate  ( fast168 )

‘I think the clip was taken out of context,’ Ekeler explained. ‘It doesn’t matter how I feel. It’s important that I go out and do my own thing. It’s my job to play well. And that will make Staley look better than ever.’ 

‘It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter how I feel. I don’t care how I feel. I didn’t spend an ounce of energy thinking about how I felt. Because it’s not important, it’s important, it’s important that I go do it. And if I don’t feel like I’m doing that at a high level. I can’t think of anything other than that. And that’s where I come from. How do you feel about Staley? I have no idea about that. Because I have to do my own work first.’ 

Ekeler hasn’t had a good relationship with the Chargers since he requested a trade last offseason after negotiations for a new contract fell through. And it looks like his time with the Lightning is coming to an end soon. 

Ekeler previously played only half of the first six games this season due to an ankle injury. He has only once carried the ball to the 100-yard mark, and in the past two weeks. He posted his lowest performance in two straight games for the first time in the last five seasons.
