El Cannus plays for Genk in the Belgian league, where he has made 94 appearances, scoring four goals and providing 14 assists. ( wilson88 )

The 20-year-old midfielder had been linked with a number of clubs across Europe but it was Leicester who finally sealed the deal after submitting a combined €20.5m offer to Genk, which the Belgian side accepted.

Genk has included a 15 percent sell-off clause in future sales, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolerie.

In addition to having nearly a hundred caps in Belgium, El Cannus has also made 14 appearances for Morocco, having made his international debut in 2022.
