On Monday, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Leicester City were in the running to sign Carvalho, with Southampton previously trying to negotiate but having their bid rejected by the Reds.

According to Sky Sports, the Saints have made a £15m bid to Liverpool, but it was rejected outright by the Merseyside club.

The Saints are considering a fresh bid but now face competition from the Foxes, who are expected to make an offer to the Reds soon.

The English media concluded that the Reds do not want to sell Carvalho permanently, so the opportunity to negotiate a loan is still possible. The 21-year-old midfielder wants a club where he can play regularly.
