Robert Lewandowski, 36, insists he is fine and has no injury problems despite signalling he wanted to be substituted during Poland’s 1-0 win over Lithuania in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday, Mundo Deportivo reported on Saturday. ( gameintr88 )
Lewandowski put the Poles 1-0 up in the 81st minute before the 36-year-old signalled to the bench to be substituted with a calf problem and was withdrawn in the 86th minute. Although the player was able to walk off the pitch, it also raised concerns for Barcelona as Hansi Flick is expecting him to be fit for the important games of the rest of the season.
The Polish striker has eased concerns over his fitness, insisting: ‘The substitution was done to prevent further injury. I am fine and ready to play.’
Poland host Malta in Warsaw on Monday, March 24, and Lewandowski is expected to return to Barcelona immediately in preparation for the rescheduled game against Osasuna on Thursday, March 27.
