The Detroit Lions unveiled a new helmet on Wednesday, featuring a blue color scheme featuring the franchise’s classic logo from the 1960s, NFL Network reported.

The Lions have used helmets other than silver, having briefly worn blue helmets in the 1950s and switching to Honolulu blue helmets featuring the team logo in the 1960s, but have never worn the logo on the helmets since.
Detroit also introduced another helmet design centered around a Ford Mustang Shelby Mach 1 owned by former Lions radio announcer Van Patrick from the 1950s until his death in 1974. The classic logo was inspired by the Ford Mustang emblem.
The Lions have also used elements of this logo over the years, including the WCF emblem on their sleeves, which honors late team owner William Clay Ford. The Detroit Lions announced they will debut the new helmets for Monday Night’s Week 8 game against the Las Vegas Raiders and will wear them again in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings.
