pgzen Manchester United are willing to give up one of their network scouts to follow the development of River Plate playmaker Franco Mastantuono in Argentina’s Liga Profrecianal, believing he has the potential to be the new Lionel Messi. pgzen

ESPN Argentina reports that the Red Devils have been keeping an eye on the 17-year-old since February, having seen his potential since he played for the U-20s. 

River Plate knew this and rushed to sign him on a new contract in March, extending it until the end of 2026. 

Overall performance Mastantuono has played 34 matches in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists. The management intends to position him as the future successor to Bruno Fernandes. 

The earliest United can make a permanent move is this summer after August 14, when players turning 18 can join without breaking UK labour laws. 

The market price is estimated at £ 10.8 million ( around € 13 million ) , but there is likely to be a performance / achievement contingency attached.   ( pgzen )
