The Home Park club have endured a difficult start to the season since Rooney took over as manager in the summer and now sit just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Rooney’s side played strongly against promotion contenders Burnley on Tuesday but lost 1-0 at Turf Moor.

The result leaves Plymouth as the second-lowest scorer in the Championship and with striker Mohamed Tijani ruled out until the New Year due to injury, Rooney is in the market for attacking reinforcements.

The club announced on Friday that former Brentford, Burnley and Watford striker Andre Gray has joined the club on a short-term deal until January.

Gray’s last club was Al Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, where he scored seven goals in 27 appearances before being released when his contract expired this summer.

After making several appearances for England C, Gray opted to represent Jamaica in 2021, making 13 appearances for the Reggae Boyz. ( superwin636 )
