LA Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh praised Justin Herbert for his tough play in leading the Thunder to a 27-17 win over the Tennessee Titans, which was a far cry from what fans had seen before, NFL Network reports.

Harbaugh is 14-of-18 complete for 164 yards and one touchdown, and has been on an interception streak for seven games, while also rushing nine times for 32 yards and a score. It wasn’t the flashy numbers Chargers fans have seen before, but Harbaugh hailed the 26-year-old’s solid performance as he led the Lightning to victory. 

“I changed his name to ‘Beast, ‘Beast Herbert,'” Harbaugh said. “Half man, half beast.”

Herbert made timely throws and used his legs to make big plays, such as a 4-yard touchdown run late in the first half to give the Chargers a 13-7 lead. 

“That’s part of our offense where you have to read the game and try to get the ball down the field,” Herbert said. “If the defense plays well and the guys are controlled and the pressure starts to build, you have to be able to break through the defense and make something happen.”

Herbert’s 90.0 or higher quarterback rating through nine games of the 2024 season would be the longest streak since Philip Rivers did it through the first 13 games of the 2018 season. The only other quarterbacks to achieve that feat are Peyton Manning (2004 and 2013), Tom Brady (2007 and 2015) and Aaron Rodgers (2011).  ( 123over )
