Onana joined Everton from Lille for £33m in August 2022 and has made 72 appearances, scoring four goals for the Toffees.

Arsenal held preliminary talks with Onana’s agent earlier this year but have not followed up since.

Romano has now reported that Villa have agreed a £50m deal with the Toffees for Onana, with a share of any future transfer fee included.

Personal terms have also been agreed, with a five-year deal set to keep Onana at Villa Park until June 2029.

A physical examination date has been set and the signing will take place next week.

Senegalese-born Onana also played for Hamburg, having progressed through the ranks at Hoffenheim after starting out in Anderlecht’s academy.
