Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja’Mar Chase were frustrated by the lack of overtime opportunities in their 38-41 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after the Bengals took a conservative approach, NFL Network reports.  ( sakidbet )

After Lamar Jackson fumbled in overtime, the Bengals had the ball at their 38-yard line and a chance to seal the game, but instead, they used three running plays to gain just three yards, forcing Evan McPherson to fumble a 53-yard field goal. The Ravens fought back until Justin Tucker kicked a 24-yard field goal to seal the victory.

“Personally, I think we should have been a little bit more aggressive on first down and second down to try and get Evan to score better,” Higgins said. “You know he did it from that distance, I don’t blame him, you know what I’m talking about. So it was a team effort. We lost as a team, but we should have done a better job of getting him in field goal range to make it easier to kick.”

“I felt like we should have tried to make at least one play to get it to one of our guys, me or Tee or Dray (Andrey Oosivas), and try to get the first down. That’s what we did the whole game,” Chase added. 

Burrow threw for 392 yards and the first five touchdowns of his career, with one interception, while Chase caught 10 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, and Higgins caught nine passes for 83 yards and two scores. 

However, Bengals head coach Zach Taylor defended his conservative approach, saying the team tries to avoid sacks or holding penalties that would put them out of field-goal range, and insisted he called one throw but Burrow chose to check run.

‘When you’re in field goal range and you trust your kicker, it’s really that simple,’ Taylor said.
