hotfuns Brian Schottenheimer believes the Dallas Cowboys’ new deal with Micah Parsons will be done soon.
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said the progress on extending Micah Parsons’ contract, a four-time Pro Bowl linebacker, is in a good place and believes the two sides will reach an agreement soon, NFL Network reports. hotfuns
“Micah has always said he planned to be there. Again, is it a business? There are a lot of factors that go into making a deal,” Shorty said. “Every deal is a two-way street, not just ours, but Micah’s. This is Micah’s opportunity, especially with some of the leadership we’ve lost. Micah is excited about it. He wants to take on more leadership responsibility.”
‘So we’ve got a lot of time and we’re going to take it one day at a time. Again, my conversations with Micah were great and I think he’s in a good place. It’s business as far as he’s concerned.’
However, Schottenheimer doesn’t want the Cowboys’ offseason drama to distract him, but he remains confident Dallas will reach a deal in the near future.
“I think the most important thing is not to let it distract you,” Shorty said. “It’s going to be done (in 2023). It’s Zach (Martin). You’re going to see more and more of this, not just the Cowboys, but the league as a whole, right?”
‘The time-wasters or whatever they’re called, don’t let that distract you. They’re professional athletes. The deal’s going to get done. We prefer to get it done sooner rather than later. There’s two sides to every negotiation. Just know that when they come back, if they’re the right type of guys, which is what we’re talking about, they’re ready to play.’
Asked if Parsons would be out of the Cowboys in 2025, Shorty said: “I don’t think so. He’s a top-tier player. We think he can do a lot of damage to opposing offenses for a long time in a Cowboys uniform.” ( hotfuns )
