29-year-old wide receiver Courtland Sutton says talks over a new contract with the Denver Broncos are moving in the right direction as his current deal expires after the 2025 season, according to the Denver Post.  hotfuns

“My team has had a good conversation with the people in the office and I think everything is going in the right direction,” Sutton said. “At the end of the day, you just want to know you’re working in the right direction. I think they see that and they see what I bring to the team.”

Sutton skipped out on voluntary activity last offseason as the veteran wide receiver sought a performance-based extension before completing all mandatory sessions and eventually agreeing to a restructured contract and a pay raise before training camp, a short-term solution that worked well for both parties.

The 29-year-old wide receiver has caught 81 passes on 135 targets for 1,081 yards and eight touchdowns after becoming a favorite target for rookie quarterback Bo Nix and helping the Mustangs reach their first playoff appearance since 2015. 

The Broncos are motivated to work out a new deal with Sutton, who turns 30 in October, as he is a reliable wide receiver in the Wildcats’ wide receiver room, along with young talent like De’Vaughn Vail, Marvin Mims Jr. and Troy Franklin, along with veteran wide receiver Evan Engram, who signed a two-year deal this offseason. 

‘One of the biggest things is that last season we had was great and we focused on that and wanted to build on that and not back down from that. I think the off-season was a big part of that.’

‘And obviously we have a quarterback, coming into the offseason knowing, ‘This is going to be our quarterback of the future.’ To build on that and have that consistency and foundation set in the offseason is amazing.’ ( hotfuns )
