Shavian Howard, a 30-year-old free agent cornerback, has made no secret of his desire to return to his hometown with the Houston Texans, according to the Houston Chronicle.  ( sakidbet  )

Howard was born in Houston. He played football at Wheatley High School and attended Baylor University. The 30-year-old cornerback wants to return to his hometown again. After becoming a free agent when released from the team by the Miami Dolphins.

‘I want to do that. Especially going home,’ Howard said. ‘I wouldn’t say I’ve always been a Houston Texans fan, but this off-season I’m a Houston Texans fan. I have. It stuck with me. I still have the Houston Rockets and the Texas (logo) in me.’

The Texans currently have underpaid cornerbacks Jeff Okudah and C.J. Henderson. With both former first-round draft picks moving to play in Houston as their third team, along with Derek Stinkley Jr. and Nickel Desmond King, Weston has a full Corner at the moment. 

Howard, who made three playoff appearances in eight winless seasons with the Dolphins, revealed he was willing to take a pay cut to compete with the Texans, who won the AFC South in 2017. Season 2023

‘I took a pay cut to be with a team that was going to make the playoffs,’ Howard said. ‘I got my money and stuff like that. I can say exactly that. ‘How much money do you really need?’

‘My goal is always to try and win the Super Bowl. Don’t let money get in the way of winning the Super Bowl. Some people get paid. And some people win the Super Bowl, some people win both.’

‘You’re different, I want to be different. Now I want to win the Super Bowl. I got the money. So now (the Super Bowl) is what I’m looking forward to.’
