marinabays Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has expressed his concerns over Patrick Dorku’s talent amid the lack of competition from Serie A giants Manchester United for his signature.

The only other source of interest in Dorku, apart from Manchester United, is Napoli, but they have not made a serious offer, which is a point that Merson has questioned.

“You know what? I’m one of them. When someone does well in Italy, I always think if Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan didn’t come for you,” Merson wondered about Dorku’s talent.

When told that Napoli were also interested in signing the player, Merson replied: “ Only Napoli.

“And they (Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan) have watched him play every week for the past year. I just find it strange. I don’t know why, I just know it’s strange.

Merson cited the example of Rasmus Hojlund, who is struggling at the moment after joining from Atalanta for £64m last season.

“We saw it with Hojlund. He came for a huge fee and the big teams didn’t go after him and look what happened.

“He (Hoylund) didn’t score many goals and they probably saw he was too young at the time.
