Kareem Hunt, 29, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, 27, were both happy with their performances as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the New Orleans Saints 26-13 on Monday to improve their record to 5-0 in the 2024 season, NFL Network reported. ( superwin636 )

Hunt carried the ball 27 times for 102 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one pass for 15 yards, while Smith-Schuster had seven catches for 130 yards, including a 50-yard catch. 

‘I had a lot of fun there. It was fun,’ Hunt said. ‘I miss it a lot. Coach (Andy) Reid did a great job of putting us in a great situation to succeed.’

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said of Smith-Schuster: “He’s got the whole concept of the play, so he knows how to get into the space. He’s got a good sense of my timing, so there’s something I can attack him with early on.”

Smith-Schuster was released by the team before the Chiefs re-signed the 27-year-old wide receiver this past offseason. “After I got released, I waited patiently,” he said.

‘When Andy Reid called me, he said we could put together a little package, even coming back here. I was okay with that. I was okay with being a leader in the room. I was okay with being the guy who helped our kids move forward.’

For Smith-Schuster, it was his first 100-yard receiving sack since Week 7 of 2022, while Hunt has waited a long time since Week 10 of 2020 to reach the 100-yard rushing mark as a Cleveland Brown.

“Coach Reid knows their skills and knows how to put them in good positions,” Mahomes said. “Kareem is so fast. He can run every yard. He catches the ball and does whatever it takes to go out there and win.”

‘Then Juju, even though he hasn’t played a lot, he’s still in the game plan and learning. What he lost in a year, everyone saw him two years ago. He fits in well with this attacking team. So today we did really well and it was good to get them back and step up.’
