Isak did not travel with Newcastle for their pre-season tour of Asia and, as revealed on Thursday, has informed club officials he wants to leave St James’ Park.

Premier League champions Liverpool are interested in signing the 25-year-old Sweden international as an option for the Arners, despite having just spent £79m on Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt.

The Magpies are keen to negotiate a new deal with Isak, who has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances since joining from Real Sociedad and has three years remaining on his current deal.

But in the Saudi Pro League, they have the best value and will be more than what Liverpool or Newcastle can pay for Isak.

Al Hilal have informed the player’s advisers they are ready to agree a deal worth £600,000 a week.

The long-term deal represents a huge sum of money that could change the Swedish star’s life forever.
