Chase Young, a second-year defensive end for the Washington Football Team, has urged his teammates to improve after a disappointing start to the 2021 season, losing two of the first three games, according to reports. From NFL Network on Wednesday ( Wintime999  )

Young, a 22-year-old defensive end, the best defensive rookie of the 2020 season, was involved in helping Washington’s defense rank in the top 5 last season. But he has dropped off this season. Without a single sack and only one quarterback pressure through the first 3 games. 

‘Right now I feel like everyone. We know what we need to change. Something has to change,’ Young said. ‘It’s really urgent for everyone right now. Be responsible to each other. At this point there is no other way. It has to be everyone on the roster holding each other accountable and working towards one mission. That’s what we’re trying at the moment.’

Washington is giving up an average of 30.7 points per game (29th) and 432 yards per game (31st) through the first three weeks of the 2021 season, as opposed to 2020. They are giving up an average of 20.6 points per game (4th). ) and conceded 304.6 total yards per game (2nd place). 

Since the NFL’s incorporation in 1970, the only three teams whose defense has conceded the most points and yards per game are the New Orleans Saints (2013-2014), Chicago Bears (2012-2013) and Arizona Cardinals (1994-1995)

Washington has five first-round draft picks in the front seven, but has just combined for five sacks with Jonathan Allen (3) and Montez Sweet (2), and Chase Young, Daron Payne and Jamin Davis still don’t have a single sack.

t’s just getting back to playing together and trusting each other,’ Young said. ‘If you do that, You won’t have the little mistakes we made.’

Washington has a game scheduled to visit the Atlanta Falcons in game week 4 this Sunday. The Falcons’ offensive team started the season with a disappointing performance, averaging just 16.0 points per game, ranking 29th in the league.

‘We’re definitely not worried about what people will say. People will talk forever. Now what we are trying to do is lock in and focus on us and nothing from outside. It’s just another step where you have to try to do the best you can. That’s the step we’re taking,’ Young said.
