The former fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft played a key role in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl 59 championship, recording six tackles and 2.5 sacks in the game, before becoming a free agent and agreeing to a four-year, $76.4 million deal with the Cardinals, with $41 million guaranteed.
Sweat will reunite with Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, who previously served as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator, and helped the 27-year-old defensive end earn a Pro Bowl call in 2021 and a career-high 11 sacks in 2022.
The Cardinals’ defense has performed better than expected in the 2024 season, despite only having veteran safety Budda Baker as the headliner, so adding Sweat to the unit should help make Arizona’s defense stronger. ( kindee1688 )
