Mariota was injured in the first half after completing 10 of 13 passes for 110 yards and no touchdowns, with the Titans trailing the Redskins 9-10 at the half.
Gabbert came on as a substitute before throwing to tight end Mycole Pruitt for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 4:30 left, leading the Titans to their fourth straight win after beating the Redskins 25-16. It was the veteran quarterback’s third time off the bench this season and his first win in seven career games after the 29-year-old completed 7 of 11 passes for 101 yards and one touchdown.
“I don’t know,” Gabbert said when asked if it was the biggest win of his eight-year career playing for four teams. “It was a fun win. We’ve got a big game coming up next week.”
The 9-6 Titans must beat the Colts in their final game, while also hoping to lose to either the Baltimore Ravens or Pittsburgh Steelers next week to have a shot at the second wild-card spot in the AFC ( kindee1688 )
