The Saints took the lead in the first half, but in the second half Liverpool scored three goals in a row to win, with Darwin Nunez scoring and two penalties from Mohamed Salah.

However, Juric disagreed with the first penalty awarded to Liverpool when Nunez was tackled in the back by William Smallbone.

“We responded really well (from the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea last time out). We had a really good moment in the first half. I think their first penalty wasn’t a penalty and that changed the game,” Juric said.

“This cannot be a penalty. I’m sorry it happened. We could have lost, but we had to fight like we did today. I’m happy with our performance today.”
