Garrett is the league’s highest-paid defensive end on a $40 million-per-year contract extension with the Browns this offseason, but the 29-year-old also thinks Parsons deserves a big payday as the 26-year-old linebacker negotiates a new deal with the Cowboys.
“I think he deserves what he gets,” Garrett said of Parsons. “I mean, the guy is special. When I get a chance to train with him, I see his work ethic. I see the way he lifts and runs. He puts 100 percent into his job and gets better every day. And (he’s) a guy who does a great job on the field and is dedicated to the game. He deserves every penny he deserves.”
Parsons is set to make $24.007 million in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, a number that could increase significantly if a new deal is signed and he could overtake Garrett as the league’s highest-paid defensive player.
“I’m pretty hopeful. I’m still waiting,” Parsons said of his new deal. “I understand it’s up to (owner Jerry Jones). He gives it the green light, so hopefully something will happen within the next month.” ( kindee1688 )
