Najee Harris, the 27-year-old running back for the Los Angeles Chargers, has spoken about his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, which has transitioned from Ben Roethlisberger to Kenny Pickett, and how the team has lost its identity, and he is looking to prove himself with the Lightning in the 2025 season, according to NFL Network. kindee1688

The former first-round draft pick in the 2021 class spent the first four years of his career in Pittsburgh, starting all 68 games and surpassing 1,000 rushing yards every season, rushing for 1,097 carries for 4,312 yards and 28 touchdowns. But the Steelers let the 27-year-old running back hit free agency, before he ended up with the Chargers. 

“It was just a team where we lost Ben, we lost the O-line, we didn’t really know anything about the offense. We didn’t have an identity,” Harris said of his former team. “We had a young player at quarterback. I was young, the team was young. I didn’t really have anybody to learn from the offense. I think the veteran player on the team was a two- or three-year veteran who was learning on his own.”

‘I just came in and tried to find people to ask their opinion, which was just defensive players. So I went to the defensive players and talked to them, but there’s not a lot they could tell me about the offensive team. So over the years, I’ve learned a lot of things that are unique to me and I’ve learned on my own.’

‘I feel like (in LA) we have a lot of experienced players that I can learn new things from, even at quarterback and on offense, so it’s going to be an interesting year, let me just say that. An interesting year.’ 

Harris signed a one-year, $9.25 million contract that includes a base salary of $5.25 million and a $4 million incentive bonus. ( kindee1688 )
